The vegetation in this area is so dense that it is unsafe to explore without a guide. Our guides will lead you through this hidden area so you can experience for yourself its biodiversity of plant and animal life.

Hike to the inactive Cacao volcano and explore the unique geographical features of this largely unexplored natural area. Enjoy magnificent views of the Gulf of Papagayo and Lake Nicaragua as you traverse primary and secondary forest, relaxing by cool waterfalls and absorbing the magic of nature. You may see monkeys, butterflies and other animals in their natural surroundings.

Tour: Visit the village of Dos Rios, population 316, travelling the biological corridor (green belt) between the volcanoes Cacao and Rincón de la Vieja, where each person has a unique role in the community. Each place you visit you will be accompanied by staff of Curubanda, as we work toward our goal of improving the life of each and every person in the community. We will visit the town bakery where fresh, hot bread is available daily. Learn recipes and become part of this activity. You will have the opportunity to mix and knead the bread dough and bake products such as white bread, sweet bread, cakes, etc.
Our second visit will be to familiarize ourselves with the church in Dos Rios and learn about the small group of Nicaraguan monks whose mission is to carry the word of God to rural communities, working with children, teenagers and adults to improve the Catholic church. If you choose, you can make a small contribution toward electrification of the church which currently has an antiquated and unsafe electrical system.
Our third visit is to the high school, a small educational center that works to bring together various communities to increase opportunity for professional development of young people and to improve the quality of life of the village. The work of the educational center focuses on the protection of flora and fauna. The educational center has a student population of 100, but because of limited financial resources is in need of educational materials such as books, notebooks, dictionaries, etc. Donations of supplies are welcome, as are financial contributions.
Our fourth visit is to a wild animal rescue center, where animals are fed and cared for until they can be returned to their natural habitat. You will be able to observe other animals, such as snakes, mountain pigs, toucans, monkeys, turkeys, etc. We will build a cage for a one-year-old tiger that currently lives on a chain. When we work together, our volunteer work will make a difference!
Our fifth visit will be to a place we can relax in the middle of the forest: warm springs with natural river pools. Here you can soak in water that originates from the foothills of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano.

Reservation Policies
1. Due to the reservation with at least 15 days before arriving.
2. Deposit a 50% of the reserved package in a dollar count in the following bank (Cuscatlán bank in Liberia, Curubanda Lodge S.A #11710509208003109). Or Deposit can be made in U.S. dollars by credit card, send credit card authorization form
3. Send the deposit bill by using the following number (506) 691- 8177. Or (506) 257 1691
4. If there is not any deposit to the bank we can not reserve any service.
Cancellation Policies
1. 15 days of cancellation before arriving, the deposited money will be reintegrated.
2. 8 days of cancellation before arriving, the 50% of the deposit to reserve, and it will be reintegrated.
3. If there is not any information about the cancellation the deposit won’t be reintegrated.
